Country Director - Dr Gunther Hintz

German born Dr. Gunther Hintz spent most of his adult life in the US as a physician.  In Hawaii he founded a multi-physician group of plastic and reconstructive surgeons which he left 1986 to dedicate himself to charitable work overseas with his organization, Medicorps.  He led numerous medical missions to poor countries across the world and taught surgery as clinical instructor in many hospitals.  Furthermore, having been trained in disaster management and humanitarian assistance, he helped with a number of natural and man-made disasters, such as floods, fires and, mostly, armed conflicts.

In Cambodia Dr. Hintz and his teams assisted in the revival of health-care for over 20 years, concentrating increasingly on medical education and training.  “Building bridges between young health-care givers from poor countries and rich ones will do more than all the international aid money combined.”

His dedicated local staff is trained to be attentive to all needs of foreign arrivals in this beautiful country, serving as interpreters and medical guides both in hospitals and remote rural environments.

Another important aspect of Dr. Hintz, in keeping with his academic background, is research to benefit not only one country, but the world at large.  He invites you to be involved in those studies as well, perhaps for your thesis or a paper.

Dr. Hintz summarizes his philosophy: “It doesn’t matter what we accumulate in our life, but what we leave behind”.
